Angus: Shrink Attempt 2
Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh. That's a proper shrink. The raw shine of the jeans has faded a little, but the crustiness from the last attempt is no longer chaffing my legs. The shrinking finally happened after a 35 minute 90 degree wash with no soap.
As apparent, the waist shrunk a little bit too much. It was difficult to do all the buttons up, but with some vigorous lunges (and a diet) this should no longer be an issue. approximate dimensions: W34 L30

Angus: The Beginning
Look at those legs! Nice? Maybe not yet, but by the time I’m done, this pair of jeans is gonna look proper good. Of the four contestants, for now I have the most girth, therefore I have opted for a 35 inch waist, but 31 inches in length. My preferred length of trousers is 29 inches, so little length adjustment will be required, especially after shrinking.
Jake already posted a photo of my first shrinking attempt... I soaked them in a gallon of boiling water/salt/diet coke/small amount of 35p energy drink. Then I wore them for a bit to prevent the waist from shrinking wrong. I sat in the back yard for about half an hour in a wet pair of jeans and no underwear, oozing dark blue fluid (denim colouring). I reckon that if I sat there for much longer I would be able to walk around with no pants on and people wouldn't notice because of the fine indigo wash osmosified into my legs.... despite my efforts, the jeans are now hanging unshrunk over the back of my bed. They're really crusty, but that's all. The colour hasn't even faded yet. I'll try again soon...

Matt Pre-Soak
Jake - Post-Soak
I soaked them in boiling hot water for ~30 minutes. I also poured in some Diet Coke and salt (two things I love) for my own personal flavor. I then line dried them overnight. When I tried them on, they were as stiff as cardboard.
Where before I rolled them twice (doubled over 2x with about an inch to each fold), I now just turn up the bottoms once.
The fit seems much better overall--not quite as slim as my APCs--especially not through the lower leg. When I first put them on, I was sceptical about the high rise and how I would like that over time. As it turns out, the rise has shrunk both through wear and in the soaking process to the point that it is now just about right.
I wore them ~8x before washing and once since.
One other detail: I picked out the "signature" Levi's pocket design. Now, the only thing designating them as Levi's is the red tag on the right pocket. I think they look much better w/o the stitching.
